MARIETTA, GA (2/18/2020) — Two women were sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a multi-car accident Monday night. The crash occurred at around 10:15 p.m. at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and the Canton Road Connector.
According to the Marietta Police Department, a 2011 BMW driven by Kanisha Thompson, 25, and a 2008 Buick driven by Connie Hawkins, 51, crashed into each other at the intersection. Both drivers sustained minor injuries and exited their disabled vehicles to call 911.
Two other cars approached the blocked intersection heading north on Cobb Parkway. One vehicle was a 2014 Ford Explorer driven by Jabari McKenzie, 27, and the other was a 2001 Nissan Frontier driven by Samy Nolasco, 21.
According to investigators, visibility was poor during the time of the accident. McKenzie and Nolasco did not see the wrecked vehicles in the intersection.
Nolasco struck the disabled BMW and ricocheted into McKenzie’s Ford Explorer. The BMW then hit both Thompson and Hawkins, who were standing on the roadway waiting for first responders.
Thompson and Hawkins were transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. Nolasco and McKenzie did not sustain any injuries in the accident.
The Marietta Police Department is still investigating the crash. Anyone who has information about the accident should call investigators at 770-794-5384.
