Safety Tips for Outdoor Concerts and Events in Georgia and Chattanooga, TN

Summertime in North Georgia and Chattanooga, TN is highlighted by many outdoor concerts and festivals. Pritchard Injury Firm is proud to be a 2025 Hall of Fame sponsor of the Woodstock Summer Concert Series, which resumes on June 14 near our offices in Woodstock, GA. We look forward to providing visitors with memorable, free experiences enjoying world-renowned talent, but also take attendees’ safety seriously.

Falls, catastrophic injuries, and fatalities have occurred at large and small events due to malicious actors or reckless behavior. While rare, these tragedies serve as useful safety reminders. In the spirit of National Safety Month, let’s review some tips to ensure you have the time of your life at concerts, games and festivals.

Do Your Homework Before You Go

Before attending any event, research the venue online. Check for any history of security issues and review the venue’s layout. Take note of all exits, first aid stations, and where security personnel are typically located. Knowing your surroundings ahead of time can make a big difference in an emergency.

Stay Alert During the Event

Pay attention to your environment and the people around you. If you notice suspicious activity or someone behaving unusually, report it to security immediately. Avoid individuals who appear overly intoxicated, as excessive drinking can lead to unpredictable or unsafe situations. If you see people getting into a scuffle, alert the security crew and step aside.

Trust Your Instincts

If something feels off, don’t hesitate to remove yourself and your group from the situation. Anticipation and exhilaration can quickly get out of control, which the world saw on Nov. 5, 2021, when thousands of people were impacted during a massive crowd surge during Travis Scott’s performance at the Astroworld music Festival in Houston, Texas. The calamity left 10 people dead (including a nine-year-old boy), 20 hospitalized, and at least 300 more injured. By 2024, about 2,400 injury cases were filed after the deadly concert.

Plan Your Transportation

Travel with friends or in groups whenever possible. Arrange safe, reliable transportation to and from the event, and steer clear of poorly lit or isolated areas when arriving or leaving. If provided, try to utilize the shuttle or transportation services provided by the venue.

Follow Venue Safety Guidelines

Listen for and follow all safety instructions provided by event staff. Cooperate with security screenings at entry points, and keep emergency contact numbers handy. Respecting these guidelines helps protect everyone.

Be Weather-Wise

Weather can change quickly. At the 2024 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, TN, just an hour from Pritchard Injury Firm’s Chattanooga location, performances were paused for safety due to severe weather. Always check the forecast and be aware of the venue’s emergency procedures, including evacuation routes and shelter-in-place instructions.

Get Ready To Rock…Responsibly

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy concerts, festivals, and outdoor events across North Georgia and Chattanooga. While these gatherings are meant for fun and celebration, it’s important to stay vigilant and prepared to ensure your outing remains safe and enjoyable.

If you or someone you love is injured at an event due to unsafe premises, inadequate security or negligence, you may have grounds for a legal claim. Stay safe, stay aware, and enjoy your summer events responsibly!

Pritchard Injury Firm will have a presence at the Woodstock Summer Concert Series, which runs through September 13. Enjoy these performances, and always feel free to stop by and speak with us.
